The Fort Worth Police Department has launched a dedicated Stockyards patrol unit to address the surge in visitors expected during the FIFA World Cup. The new team will maintain a permanent presence in the district, with officers conducting daily foot and vehicle patrols to keep the area safe.
This initiative follows a violent assault in the Stockyards last December, where a man reported being attacked by six individuals on East Exchange Avenue. Police released surveillance images of the suspects at that time. Officers state that the consistent visibility of law enforcement is intended to deter crime and reassure tourists.
With Arlington hosting matches, officials anticipate many soccer fans will visit Fort Worth before and after games. Police encourage visitors to enjoy local bars responsibly. Some tourists, including a family from Japan, have already arrived to experience the area's Western culture and watch the tournament.
