Two women were discovered deceased inside a Fort Worth apartment on Wednesday, according to the Fort Worth Police Department. The incident is being treated as an apparent murder-suicide, though homicide investigators are still working to confirm that determination.
Officers arrived at an apartment complex on Presidio Vista Drive, located just west of I-35W, at approximately 8:50 p.m. in response to a welfare check. A family member contacted authorities after failing to reach a relative at the residence. The caller noted that they had last spoken to the individual the previous night and became concerned when no one answered the door.
Upon arrival, an officer observed what appeared to be a body through a window. Police then forced entry into the unit and found two women dead. The department confirmed that the two victims were related to one another. A firearm was located near the younger of the two women, according to a police news release.
The Fort Worth Police Department described the event as an isolated incident. While officers believe the deaths resulted from a murder-suicide, the final determination rests with homicide investigators. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner is responsible for establishing the specific causes of death and will release the identities of the victims once that process is complete.
