A man has died following an overnight shooting at a north Fort Worth home, prompting a homicide investigation by local authorities.
Officers responded to the 8300 block of North Riverside Drive shortly after 3:35 a.m. Saturday upon receiving reports of a shooting inside a residence. Upon arrival, law enforcement located a male victim who had been shot within the house.
According to a police news release, the victim died at the scene. His identity has not yet been publicly released and will be determined by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Police also reported that another man was present at the location at the time of the incident. This second individual surrendered to officers and was taken into custody for detention. Investigators confirmed that the two men involved knew each other personally.
Homicide detectives are currently conducting interviews with the detained suspect. Law enforcement officials characterized the shooting as an isolated incident, stating they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
