A section of northwest Fort Worth may experience enhanced traffic flow following a potential infrastructure project. The Fort Worth City Council will review an $11.5 million agreement with DDM Construction Corporation to handle reconstruction work and intersection upgrades along Meandering Road.
The scope covers the stretch from LTJG Barnett Road to Roberts Cut Off Road. Key components include rebuilding Meandering Road into three-lane thoroughfares between River Oaks Boulevard and Anahuac Avenue. Additionally, LTJG Barnett Road will be reconstructed from Meandering Road up to the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base East Gate.
Intersection modifications are a central part of the plan. A roundabout is proposed for the junction of LTJG Barnett Road and Meandering Road. At Yale Street and Meandering Road, officials plan to install a four-way stop sign. The intersection of Roberts Cut Off Road and Meandering Road will be realigned and equipped with a new traffic signal.
The project also addresses pedestrian and cyclist safety. Sidewalks and shared use paths will be installed within the designated limits. Bike lanes are planned specifically for LTJG Barnett Road.
According to city documents, the initiative is supported by federal funding. To satisfy local match requirements for these federal dollars, the city will provide regional transportation credits. This financing mechanism serves as a non-cash contribution.
