A GoFundMe campaign has been organized to assist with funeral expenses for Tyler Shivers, a Waste Management employee who was killed in a traffic collision on Wednesday in south Fort Worth. The fundraiser aims to reach $5,000 and had collected more than $4,300 by Friday afternoon.
Shivers was driving the garbage truck when it left the roadway and struck multiple support pillars of a bridge spanning Erath Street over U.S. 287. He was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The passenger, identified as Ruben Saenz, was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Shivers’ family described him as a beloved individual with a generous spirit. In the online fundraiser, they noted that the sudden nature of the tragedy has forced them to handle urgent funeral arrangements while processing their grief.
Waste Management confirmed Shivers was an employee and stated it is cooperating with law enforcement officials regarding the investigation. The company issued a statement expressing condolences to Shivers’ relatives and Saenz.
