Paramount+ confirmed on Wednesday that actor Michael Kelly has been cast as a series regular for the third season of "Landman." The studio revealed that Kelly will portray William Crockett, described in the show's materials as the head of the world's largest oil management firm and an industry figure known for efficiency and wealth.
The announcement marks the first new cast member disclosed for the next installment. Production on "Landman" season 3 is scheduled to begin in Fort Worth later this month.
Kelly took to Instagram to share the news, writing that he had been "biting his tongue" before revealing his excitement to join the cast. He thanked creator Taylor Sheridan and others involved in the production for the opportunity.
The 57-year-old actor has worked in the industry since the late 1990s. He is widely recognized for his roles in "House of Cards," "Jack Ryan," "The Penguin," and "Lioness," where he portrays CIA Deputy Director Byron Westfield. His film credits include appearances in "Dawn of the Dead," "Man of Steel," and "Now You See Me."
During a brief conversation with The Star-Telegram in 2024 regarding the second season of "Lioness," Kelly expressed strong appreciation for Fort Worth's cultural and dining scenes. He praised The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, calling it one of the most incredible museums he had visited globally.
He also highlighted his experience at Hatsuyuki Handroll Bar, describing the sushi there as the best he had ever eaten.
