In Class 6A, North Crowley maintains its position at the top of the rankings after securing a 40-10 victory over Southlake Carroll. The margin between the top spot and the rest of the field remains significant for the Cowboys.
Southlake Carroll holds the No. 2 spot despite the defeat. Aledo remains third in the area rankings. Although both teams experienced setbacks in Week 2, their scheduling of difficult opponents is noted as a factor in their continued high placement.
The competitive gap between Aledo and other contenders appears to be narrowing, potentially intensifying District 3-6A play for the Bearcats, who hold a 135-game district winning streak.
Mansfield Lake Ridge moved up slightly after Arlington suffered another loss. Arlington Martin emerged as a significant mover, jumping from unranked status to No. 7. The Warriors have defeated strong opponents including Mansfield and Flower Mound Marcus. Meanwhile, teams from Arlington and Hurst L.D. Bell dropped in the rankings following Week 2 losses.
In Class 5A, Mansfield Timberview claimed the area’s top spot after defeating Denton Ryan. The Wolves are positioned as contenders for a state championship. Richland remains close behind, with the gap between the two teams described as slim. Success in the remainder of the regular season could allow the Royals to reclaim the No. 1 position.
