A driver was cited for reckless driving after a vehicle crashed through a residential fence in Fort Worth, narrowly missing several children. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. Sunday in the 1500 block of Heritage Trace Parkway near Harmon Road.
Witnesses described the scene as severe, with a wooden fence destroyed, metal poles bent, and a stone column reduced to rubble scattered more than 100 feet along the sidewalk.
Alex Gunter, a neighbor, was in her backyard at the time and heard a car accelerating nearby. She stated that she could tell the vehicle was out of control. At that moment, two children were swimming in a pool nearby, and a 2-year-old wearing a life vest was walking near the fence line.
The car crashed through the barrier, missing the children by a narrow margin. Gunter expressed shock at how close the situation came to tragedy, noting that the family could have been mourning a loss.
Fort Worth police from the North Division responded to the scene for a vehicle-versus-fence crash. Upon arrival, officers found a badly damaged black car in the road. The front-seat passenger was transported to a hospital, though their condition was not immediately known. The homeowners and their family were not injured. Police cited the driver for reckless driving.
