Fort Worth Public Library will mark its 125th birthday with a public celebration Thursday, Oct. 15, from 3 to 5 p.m. at City Hall, 100 Fort Worth Trail.

Library Director Midori Clark will give a presentation at 3 p.m. in the City Council Chamber. A reception in the lobby follows, with a library-history exhibit, music by Ginny Mac, a photo booth, refreshments and prize drawings. Visitors can also get a limited-edition anniversary library card.

The celebration looks back to the Carnegie Public Library’s opening on Oct. 17, 1901, when its collection held nearly 7,000 books. The library system now has 20 locations, according to the city’s Oct. 2 announcement.

The city also points to work on future library spaces. The Sendera Springs branch is expected to open in early 2027, while plans for a downtown flagship concern the 900 block of Summit Avenue.
