Fort Worth ISD's state-appointed board of managers signed off on about $3.27 million in new spending this month, and the biggest piece will keep the district's copiers and printers running.

The three contracts were approved 8-0 as part of the consent agenda, with manager Jay Stegall absent, the Fort Worth Report reported Monday. All three are paid from the district's general fund.

Copiers and printing

Managers gave the superintendent, or someone he designates, authority to negotiate and sign a new master lease with Datamax of Texas for districtwide copier and managed print services. The agreement runs five years and includes equipment, licensing and a refresh of existing devices, with annual spending capped at $1,384,714.

Insurance for student devices

The second-largest item renews and amends the district's contract with AKKO LLC to insure the devices students use, at a cost of $1,160,095.

Security patrols

Managers also ratified a $728,100 contract with Jet Security for security patrol service at district campuses and administrative buildings.

Taken together, the three items total $3,272,909.

The Report noted that one manager, Pete Geren, leads the Sid W. Richardson Foundation, which financially supports the newsroom, and another, Laurie George, sits on its reader advisory council.
