Fort Worth-based American Airlines is introducing a booking option that will let eligible AAdvantage members combine cash and miles for a flight, according to the carrier’s newsroom.

American describes a gradual rollout on its website and mobile app. Members who receive the option will be able to choose a flight using the cash-booking process, then adjust the payment mix with a slider during checkout. The displayed total will change with their selection.

The airline’s program-updates page says the initial scope is U.S. members booking domestic American flights, excluding Alaska and Hawaii. That page still describes the feature as coming soon. Travelers can check the options shown during their own booking to see whether cash-and-miles payment is available.
