Fort Worth residents interested in volunteering with the Police Department’s Code Blue Citizens on Patrol program can prepare for its next training session Saturday, Nov. 14.

The city announced the date Tuesday, Oct. 13. Participants must be at least 18, live in Fort Worth, pass a background check and complete the program’s training.

Trained volunteers observe their neighborhoods by car, bicycle or on foot and report suspicious activity to police. Their assignments can also include holiday parking-lot patrols and special crime-prevention details.

Prospective volunteers can use the city announcement or the Police Department’s Citizens on Patrol webpage for application and contact instructions. It does not list the Nov. 14 session’s time or location.
